Strengths:

Alex's strengths may seem very odd, since she is the pirate fairy.

• Pirating. And now this does not mean taking a video illegally and putting it on the internet, this means her skills in swash buckling or even commandeering a ship. Her skills with a sword are outstanding, she has practiced for hours, year after year to find her own unique form. When fighting she likes to let her opponent strike first, so that way she can interrupt their attack, catching them off guard thus taking dominance. As do all pirates, she has a pirate's speech, except she has learned to control this so she can talk normal as well. Since she was once a captain of a ship, Alex knows how to run a able bodied crew both harshly and with order.
• Computer Knowledge. Alex has taken a huge liking into the new world, mainly online. She has learned mostly about hacking and how to get past even the strongest firewalls using only the tips of her fingers. Although she has been called a nerd many times, whenever somebody says that she will either make their electronic device go haywire or just kick them in the shin. 
• Wits. Alex is a very smart girl, although she may just look like a thug pirate, her brains never cease to amaze most people. From what she has learned about the real world, she uses math, science, and all forms of knowledge to prove her point or just show people up. Besides just school intelligence, she uses her wits in battle. She can be devilishly wicked and trick even the most strong of pirates.

Weaknesses:

• Hopeless Romantic. It is very hard for Alex to tell when people are flirting with her, so if someone does flirt with her she will think they are either being weird or just playful. Hopefully someday she will find someone to open her clueless eyes.
• Water. Wet wings equal no flying, it's as simply as that. When she touches water she tends to lose a big amount of her magic, the pixie dust simply washes off of her body. Also in general Alex just hates water, to her it feels like she is just getting dirty all over again, almost like a dog. 
• Tragedy. Alex does not work well with tragedy. In her case, since in the past she was taken away her title of a dust keeper fairy and ran away joining a pirate crew just for revenge, she handles events like this strongly. The moment when someone dies or is even hurt, her usual playful attitude goes away and she is locked into a shell of her former self. In Alex's world everything would be perfect, no pain no death no anything which would cause heartache.

Personality:

• Adventurous. This is probably the best word which could be used to describe Alex's confusing personality. The thing she loves to do above all else is explore the endless wonders of the world. It was her adventurous trait that got her into fairy dust mixing. Although it has gotten her into trouble in the past, like how she became a pirate ships captain only to find out she was tricked. She likes to think of herself as an interesting person with strange tastes and desires but that's what makes Alex, Alex.
• Clever. Being clever has gotten Alex out of a lot of trouble in the past. Since this is one of the main traits to being tricking or downright playful she has adopted this personality. She thinks outside of the box which means that Alex makes up some wild plans about revenge. When she is fighting off an attacker she uses her clever nature to trick people then slowly beating them.
• Confident. Confidence plays a strong role in a pirates life. Being able to actually charge into a fight without hesitation takes some guts and Alex learned this quickly. She grew some muscle upgraded her look than became a feared pirate, well that's what she thought at least. Alex will charge into battle if it means she will be able to save a friend who is in danger, she puts herself before others and mostly makes sure people don't worry about herself.
• Forgiving. Either if this is good or bad, she forgives people easily. Once she for sure sees a change in their heart it is easy to get on her good side again. She adopted this trait by how much people have forgiven her even how much she messes up.
• Kind. Kindness also plays a big role in her personality. In able to truly be a good person at heart you must be kind. She shows compassion to those people who deserve it and to always her friends. Although she can be overly sarcastic at times, she normally makes up for it by using her kind spirited nature.
• Playful. Ah yes, this is a word which Alex can agree is something which comes into play just about every minute of her life. Being playful comes so natural for her, she likes to make light of serious topics so things don't get boring or overly dramatic. She uses references from different movies, books, or tv shows to show somebody up. At times she can be found randomly dancing or singing to a song which happens to be playing.
• Fierce. In battle Alex is a tough opponent to defeat easily. She does not give up until her life is on the line and she has made a few scars on the attacker. Giving up on a fight isn't easy at all for her. She is also fierce to those who do threaten her, either if they invade her personal space or just us their words harshly. 

History:

During the curse, Alex had surprisingly found herself in a small town called Storybrooke where she learned about many different things outside of her normal fairy tale life. Although she didn't know it was a change at first, when the curse was lifted she woke up to find herself knowing random knowledge about the real world which she half enjoyed.

There's not much to tell about her life during the curse.

Fairy Tale History:

She is seen experimenting with blue pixie dust with TinkerBell. While experimenting, they discover that when mixed, pixie dust can change color and be infused with the power of a certain talent. For example, when a small amount of blue pixie dust and a purple feather is mixed, the pixie dust turns purple, representing the fast-flying talent. If pink flower petals are added instead, it turns pink and it represents the garden talent. However, it goes out of control after hitting a sapling, causing chaos when the tree grows too big. Zarina is expelled from Dust-Keeping and runs away until she returns one year later.


Zarina, now the very first pirate fairy and captain, uses magenta-colored fairy dust to make poppies sprout behind the spectators at the Four Seasons Festival. She then throws dust at the poppies to make them bloom and release pollen, which puts all the fairies in the Fairy Coliseum into a deep sleep. While all the fairies are asleep, Zarina flies into the Pixie Dust Depot and steals the blue pixie dust. The only fairies that were not in the coliseum when Zarina set the poppies off were Tink, Silvermist, Rosetta, Iridessa, Fawn, Vidia and Clank. When Tink and her friends discover that Zarina has stolen the mighty and vital blue pixie dust, they follow the blue light until they reach the coast and see a rowboat of pirates rowing Zarina and the blue pixie dust towards their ship.


After Tinker Bell and the others try to take back the blue pixie dust from the pirates, she takes the experimented pixie dust in different colors representing the different talents and throws it at Tinker Bell, Silvermist, Rosetta, Iridessa, Fawn and Vidia, swapping their talents.


With her fellow pirates she feels appreciated for her talents and her closest friend is James the cabin boy. Unfortunately, she is betrayed, as the pirates have only been using her to get their ship to fly. With help from Tinker Bell and the other fairies they battle the pirates and get back the blue dust.


Zarina almost goes her separate way but the fairies offer her to come home which she happily accepts. She returns to Pixie Hollow, restoring all, including giving her new allies their proper talents to have a spectacular show, and, being welcomed again, is able to show her talent called Pixie Dust Alchemy to the other fairies.
