Name: Sherlock Holmes Fairy Tale Name: Brett Rathbone Fairy Tale Story: Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (among others) Age: 47 Gender: Male
Strengths: -His intellect -His brilliant 'powers of deduction' -His persistence -His wit and suave demeanor
Weaknesses: -Can be bipolar and seem a tad eccentric -Buries himself in his work -Does posses a bit of an ego and is stubborn -Can also be vengeful if someone crosses him
Personality: Being from the land without color doesn't mean that Sherlock Holmes is a 'powerless' individual..on the contrary, it's quite the opposite. While he may not have an ounce of magical ability like some others in Storybrooke possess, Holmes is a man of a genius level intellect and he uses that intellect to solve mysteries of all sorts. With that intellect comes both very sharp deduction skills as well as a slight ego, though he does
History: Brett Rathbone was the only freelance detective in Storybrooke throughout the time of the curse. He kept mostly to himself and his work but every so often did go outside the confines of his flat for a bit of fun (mostly at the Rabbit Hole). As it was in his life before the curse, Brett considered himself the best and only 'consulting' detective in the world. He may not have had his memories of a time before the curse, but his powers of deduction did not diminish a bit in the time that the curse was in play nor did his eccentricities or his musical ability (he has been known to play the violin on occasion just as he did as Sherlock before the curse).
Fairy Tale History: In the land without magic there was only one person whose ability to solve crimes and catch criminals was second to no one...that person was Sherlock Holmes-the single most famous resident of apartment 221 B Baker Street. Born in 1854, Holmes lived with his mother and father as well as his dear elder brother, Mycroft, in London, England (and sometimes out in the English countryside in Sussex where his father had a 'summer home'). Holmes grew up and eventually gained notoriety as a private consulting detective (the only one in the world as he is keen to point out) to whom Scotland Yard , in particular Inspector Lestrade, did come to when they needed his help. Despite his superb capabilities, Holmes did not go through each case alone, he did have some help in the form of his assistant and friend-Dr. John Watson, and his band of street urchins that he dubbed "The Baker Street Irregulars" who would be his eyes and ears (and in Watson's case-occasional conscience) throughout London and through any case that he had at the time.
Aside from those individuals and his delightful landlady, Mrs. Hudson, Holmes had very little time for love. Holmes did not have a positive opinion of women and didn't see them as anything else other than annoying and useless. Unfortunately for him that all changed during one particularly 'scandalous' case during which he met an American woman named Irene Adler (eventually refereed to by Holmes as THE Woman)-she was his equal in terms of intelligence and cunning which was something he respected and admired about her and that is what caused him to fall for her. Unfortunately that romance was never to be after Irene was murdered sometime after that case. Except for one other person, there was no one who could match Holmes in terms of intellect and cunning except for one person...an individual who over time became Holmes' arch nemesis and unlike Holmes used said intellect and cunning for nefarious purposes, including the murder of Irene Adler, Professor James Moriarty.
Moriarty...even the sound of his name will send Holmes' blood boiling for this is the man who has on occasion not only challenged but even outwitted him on a few rare occasions. In fact, right when the curse was enacted, Holmes was about to finally defeat and capture Moriarty when he vanished from his world..his England and landed in Storybrooke with no memory as to who he was though his 'powers' and skills were well intact. Time would tell if he would be as successful as a detective (and as a person) all alone in Storybrooke as Brett as he was as Sherlock Holmes in his London.
