As she continued walking through town, Hannah couldn't help but feel as though someone was following her. It didn't help that every time she turned around, this man in all black clothing seemed to be a little closer to her. It seemed silly, because there was no reason for anyone to be following her as she walked down the streets. It wasn't like she looked harmful, and it wasn't as though she'd been doing anything wrong. Hannah felt she might have simply been being paranoid because of the dark skies. She bit her bottom lip, wondering if getting chocolate syrup from the store at midnight was really all that important now. She had really been craving the flavor, and at the time it was all she had cared about.
The brunette looked over her shoulder again. The man had gotten even closer. Calm down, Hannah. He's just a faster walker than you are. She continued to tell herself just that, but her body wasn't listening. Her heart was beating faster, and her breathing was becoming a little heavier. She looked over her shoulder again. He was even closer now, and his speed seemed to be increasing. Hannah started to walk faster as a reaction. She could hear the sound of her heart pounding. Be brave. She was always trying to tell herself that. That was her biggest goal in life. From a young age, she imagined herself being brave enough to stand up to just about anything. If she was who she wanted to be, she might have just stopped to let the guy pass her. No guy behind her meant no one to make her feel followed.
She was breathing so heavy now she could hear herself. No wait... Slowly, she tilted her head to look behind her. "Ahhhh!" She screeched. The man was literally right over her shoulder with a big, creepy smile planted across his face. Reacting quickly, Hannah took off into a full on run. She didn't dare look behind her at the shadowy man. She didn't dare stop. She had been right. He was definitely following her, and she had no idea what he wanted. Looking both ways quickly, she noticed the town hall not too far off. If she recalled correctly, that place was always unlocked. She ran screaming right to the door, trembling fingers grabbed for the handle, missing it a few times before finally grabbing hold. She yanked the door open and quickly went inside, closing it behind her and leaning her back against it. She squinted her eyes shut, panting both from running so fast and out of fear. It felt as though her entire body was shaking. | 447 words open yup. |

I said it's been a long timeSince someone looked at me that wayIt's like you knew meAnd all the things I couldn't say It was a late night at the ice cream shop. It was getting dark out and Leon was still there, somehow having been locked inside the shop so he couldn’t get out. Leon was freaking out. It was cold in here, and there were no blankets, and he was going to have to explain to his boss once more how exactly he got locked inside of the shop, and of course, Leon was always worried about losing his job over the frequent incidents like this. Almost ready to give up and try to find a comfortable spot, he sighed and turned around, trying to think of places that his boss may have put a spare key, in case this were to happen. Then again, it probably would only happen to him. He heard a sound outside the door, and quickly turned back towards it, seeing nothing there. Then he saw it. A small key nearby the door. Slowly, Leon walked up to the door and peered out the glass window, but he still didn’t see anyone. Leon quickly picked up the key and placed it in the slot, and surprisingly it fit, slipping easily into the lock. Sighing with relief, he opened the door, locked it again, and slid the key back into the shop so he wouldn’t have to explain how he got ahold of a key in the first place. Maybe he should just ask for a pair, and just say that he was worried about something like this happening… and not letting his boss know the ‘again’ part. Leon was walking down the street, towards his apartment, when a little bit ahead, he saw a smaller figure and a larger figure. The smaller moved faster, the larger moved with the smaller, catching up on the smaller. Leon quickly broke into a sprint, without even thinking. If it turned out to be a false alarm, then no big deal, he’d just claim he was running. But if not…. if he did nothing he would never forgive himself. He could never let something like that happen if he had a chance to stop it. The smaller, a girl, he could barely see ran into the town hall, the larger, a man, still following her. However, Leon was fast. Incredibly so. And he caught the larger, landing a fist right across his face, hurting Leon’s knuckles and effectively pissing off a big man. The man looked at Leon with a nasty look. “Uh oh.” BAM! The large man was whacked from behind with a bat, and fell forward, as Leon moved out of the fall path. Behind him stood a man, someone who Leon had seen out of the corner of his eye occasionally. The man fled, the larger man still bleeding on the ground. Leon wanted to follow, but he had to make sure that the girl was alright, and she knew it was safe. And of course, he didn’t have a phone to call the police with. Great. Leon quickly ran to the door of the building, and tried to get in, but something was blocking it. The girl. He knocked. “It’s okay. That creep is taken care of. Promise. Cross my heart.” His voice was cracking slightly, his adrenaline pumping like crazy. He wondered who the girl was, but he didn’t get a good look at her from afar and in the dark. The color was almost drained from Hannah's face, as she stood there. She was still trying to catch her breath when she heard a few bangs outside of the door. After only just opening her eyes, she squinted them shut again. She really wanted to know what was going on out there, but she couldn't bring herself to go look. The last thing she needed was to run out the door and find the shadowy man right there, just waiting to come in. She begun to worry that she might have to camp herself against the door all night.
A knock against the door echoed in her brain, and she screeched. The panic flushed over her once again, and she was about to tell him to go away when a voice spoke. She slowly opened her eyes, still breathing rather heavily. It didn't sound anything like she was expecting to hear. It wasn't harsh, or creepy, or demented. It was just...a voice. One that was almost comforting. "H-How do I know you're not the creep?" She spoke loudly, her voice trembling just slightly. Just because he didn't sound scary didn't mean he couldn't have been. Still, she found herself letting her weight off the door until she was no longer pressing against it as she waited for an answer.
Hannah was wishing for adventure, but she hadn't meant this kind of adventure. She had more been leaning more toward something thrilling in a way that didn't leave her wanted to crawl into a hole and cry. She had never had something like that happen to her in Storybrooke, but now she was thinking it might have been a good idea to keep herself out of the streets at night. I said it's been a long timeSince someone looked at me that wayIt's like you knew meAnd all the things I couldn't say Leon was still breathing hard, trying to get what was happening through his head. Was the guy dead? Was that guy a stalker? He always seemed to be around him when things happened, like he was some sort of body guard. But he didn’t have body guards, so it was weird. And a little bit scary. If the girl was scared, he was out of his mind trying not to think about how his stalker just like beat this guy chasing a girl, and maybe killed the dude. It was beyond scary, but Leon knew he couldn’t just sit there and do nothing, frozen with fear. He couldn’t think about it or else he would. Therefore he didn’t think about it. “You don’t. You just have to trust me. My name is Leon. I work at the ice cream down store the street. I just wanted to help. The guy, the guy who was following you, he’s… knocked out I think. You can’t stay in there forever, and if he wakes up he’ll find you. You need to get away from here.” Leon just wanted to help. That was always his intention. He hated when he upset people or inconvenienced them. He never tried to hurt someone, unless they were chasing down a girl at night and then he tried to save the innocent girl. But that was Leon, defender of the innocents, of the weak, at least when he wasn’t locked in somewhere where he couldn’t do anything about it. There was something familiar about her voice, as if he knew who she was, from a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away – wait wrong universe – from a long time ago, in another lifetime…. Dang his knuckles hurt. It almost felt like he broke a bone in there somewhere. That’s what he got for not knowing how to throw a punch correctly. TAG: @nala | WORDS: 315 | NOTES: :-D

Leon. She recognized that name. It was the same name as one of her old friends. A boy she'd grown to be quite fond of being around before he just up and left. Figures that Hannah manages to make a friend and then he just disappears. She remembered reading something odd about it, but it slipped her mind since then. She was far too upset about the entire thing. Either way, there was no way this was the same guy. Leon wasn't a common name, but it wasn't like it was abnormal. Even if she did recognize the voice ever so slightly, the Leon she knew was gone. She dismissed her current thought train.
"You... knocked the guy out?" She took a deep breath, turned around, and slowly began to open the door. When it was creaked open enough to see that it wasn't the shadowy man, her ears perked up a bit. Then, as she opened the door wider, she almost froze. Staring straight at him, her mouth fell slightly open. "Leon?" The name was only just a whisper as she tried to comprehend the situation. It was the same guy. Her old friend was standing right in front of her after disappearing for so long. She did her best to keep the emotion from her face, not wanting to seem too strange. "How did you-" She cut herself off, shaking her head. "It doesn't matter."
Finding her fear replaced with relief, she leaned forward and flung her arms around him. She embraced him tightly for only a second before realizing what she was doing. Quickly, she retreated and straightened out the bottom of her sweater. "Oh, um, I'm sorry... I just..." She stopped, finding herself staring at him a moment longer in disbelief. Her eyes narrowed. "Where have you been?" She pressed her lips together. "I thought we'd become pretty good friends..." Her voice was quiet, not necessarily angry, but her tone was laced with disappointment. "Not even a phone call..."
Even though she'd just gone through quite the dramatic experience, she'd lost all focus on trying to make sure the man wasn't somewhere off in the distance, still watching her. She felt a little bit safer knowing the man was knocked out. She pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, looking away from him. "But, even so... Thank you." She swallowed hard and looked back up, trying her best to meet his eyes without seeming awkward. "You were really brave." | 415 words yup. |

I said it's been a long timeSince someone looked at me that wayIt's like you knew meAnd all the things I couldn't say To say that Leon wasn’t scared was to say that Leon wasn’t an accident prone klutz. Meaning whoever said that should be shot because of how wrong they were. But Leon was one of those knuckle heads that was able to brave the fear. He might be internally panicking, but he could stand it and still think just as clearly as he would when he was calm. Which isn’t saying much, since he never seemed to think clearly when he was calm even. Maybe it was because he never really was calm, always looking and paranoid about meeting those from his previous life. “Uh no, I didn’t do it. Some other guy did and ran – ” In the middle of speaking she opened the door and Leon froze mid-sentence. The very thing he had been worried about for years now had just slapped him in his face as he stared at his childhood friend Hannah Emerds. He’d been ducking and dodging and here he was, running to her rescue without even realizing it. Someone really had funny sense of humor. His heart had leaped up his throat, happy and scared and relieved and worried all at the same time. Too many emotions flooding his brain. She said his name, was aware of that as blood bounded in his ears. Calm down, Leon. You can do this. You can do this. It’d been years since you last talked to her. But you knew this was going to happen eventually. At least it wasn’t uncle. That would’ve been worse. “Hannnah… I…” But he couldn’t go on. He actually said words though. And then she hugged him. Leon was about to cry from all of the emotions welling up inside, but her hugging him, it grounded him. It brought him back to the moment, the pounding in his ears dying down. But she was upset with him. And he didn’t blame her. He just up and left and never talked to anyone, after his father died. Disappeared. Most assumed him dead. His uncle took over the company. And he couldn’t bring himself to leave Storybrooke, as if programmed in him, so he became a normal person. Dyed his hair. Wore makeup to hide some of his features. But he would be recognized if seen up close, but not just walking down the street, which is what he was going for, never thinking he would get this close to anyone who knew him before. “It wasn’t me,” Leon said stretching his fingers on his hurt hand and clenching his fist, pain jolting up his arm. “I… Tried though. And this guy who follows me around took him out.” He looked behind him at the guy who was on the ground, bleeding from the back of his head where the guy hit him with the bat that had been dropped nearby. “Hannah, I’m sorry. For leaving. I was… scared.” He looked back at her with a frown and then looked down at the ground. “We probably shouldn’t stick around. He might wake up.”TAG: @nala | WORDS: 508 | NOTES: :-D

"You look.... different." She tilted her head to the side slightly and brought her fingers to his hair, running them through it like she didn't believe it was really his. "Did you...dye this?" Realizing what she was doing, she pulled her hand away. Same old awkward Hannah, always touching things that didn't belong to her. In this case it was a person. She really wished she wasn't like she was, but if Leon was as sweet as she remembered, he wasn't going to scold her. It didn't matter what he changed, Hannah would have been able to recognize him, she was sure of it. Especially at this distance.
"There's a man following you?" Concern took over her face. What kind of stalker followed someone, and then took out their threats for them? It was weird to think about it. Her creeper was taken out by Leon's creeper. What weird fate had brought two old friends together again. She leaned slightly over and looked behind him. Whoever it was had really done a number. She wondered if she should have called the police, but she really didn't feel she had a solid enough case. Who's to say the man wouldn't have just claimed they'd jumped out at him? Hannah definitely didn't have the strength to have pulled something off like that, but the two of them might have been believable.
Her heart was pounding against her chest just from seeing him again. She felt like she was looking at the ghost of a long lost loved one. "It's alright..." She couldn't help but respond the way she did. Her anger with him wasn't very lasting. "How are...." She wanted to ask him how he was, given the things she'd read about what his father. Slowly, things were starting to come back to her on the situation. "...things? Leon, where have you been? I was so worried. I thought you might have been..." She couldn't even bring herself to say it, and her sentence just sort of trailed off.
Glancing past him once more, she looked around the outside area. "You're probably right. But... what if who ever was following you comes back? Or what if the guy wakes up angry and comes looking for revenge?" She was afraid, and that was easily revealed in her voice. If the man following Leon came back, she wondered if he might do the same thing to her that he did to the man on the ground. She wondered how long this guy had been stalking Leon. It was so strange. It worried her to think about the constant danger he might have been in. "I'm kind of afraid to go home." She didn't want to admit it, but she figured it was pretty obvious anyways. | 462 words yup. |
