A part of her felt like this conversation was getting her nowhere. She didn’t know the whole case but by the look of things, it was just a simple kidnapping. “Yeah, go ahead and keep telling yourself that.” She said in response when he said that he was still Captain Hook, just not from a children’s movie. With her ability, she could tell when someone was lying to her. In the back of her mind, she knew that he wasn’t lying, but how was that even possible? She couldn’t just believe the fact that he was apparently a pirate captain. Perhaps her mind was just trying to play tricks on her to attempt to get her to believe what this man was saying to her was actually the truth. She just didn’t know what to believe at the moment. She raised an eyebrow when he stated that he wanted revenge. “So you kidnapped Lacey French in order to get back at Mr. Gold. Why?” She asked, just wanting to try to get all of the details. It wasn’t going to change the fact that he ended up kidnapping someone and he could have potentially hurt her if he wanted to. There were a few pieces that just didn’t add up. “A free man? You will probably be put behind bars because kidnapping is a crime, Mr. Hook.” She stated, emphasizing his name. She still didn’t believe that he was Captain Hook and that wasn’t going to change. “So you would risk everything just to get revenge even though at the end of the day Mr. Gold is still standing while you are going to rot behind bars.” She stated. She didn’t really understand some criminals. Most of the criminals that she ended up coming into contact with were just plain stupid. It seemed that this one wasn’t an exception to that. His next statement had caught her off guard. He was deflecting the attention that was currently placed on him to Graham. She turned her head slightly to see the Sheriff observing their conversation. She knew that he would end up stepping in if he had to. “What are you talking about?” She asked before turning her head back to the man that was laying on the hospital bed. “Not everyone remembers their entire past and childhood.” She stated, but there were some things that should be remembered. “I’ll humor you.” She said and rolled her eyes before turning back to Graham. “Do you remember anything from your past?” She asked, even though it wasn’t significant to the current discussion. Graham was quite loving everything that was happening here. His little deputy, friend, was doing so well in her job. He definitely chose right when he hired her to help him out. It was almost to the point that if something were to happen to him, god forbid, he would feel safe knowing that she was in charge of the town. Plus she had the bravery he never had, which was to stand up to people like Regina and Gold. For some reason he really wanted to stand up to Regina especially, but it was like something was holding him back, holding his tongue any time he was around her and he became an obedient little puppy. It was a little annoying really.
However, it was really nice to sit back and see Emma work. Even if he kind of felt like a third wheel this whole time. He didn’t like that feeling and he was just about to jump in and say something when Hook mentioned something about him not remembering his past. Graham didn’t let it show on his face, but Hook was right. He tried to remember back and it was all grey, fuzzy, as if he couldn’t remember it. But that was probably what everyone felt, right? Because it was so long ago? He could remember feeling like he was an outsider when he was a boy. That was probably why he didn’t remember it well. Because he wanted to forget. He wasn’t going to just say that though. That was highly personal information.
Then Emma asked him the question about his past. He smiled trying to hide the confusion. “Not really no.” Okay, maybe he would say something. Because otherwise she would know that he was lying. After all, it was her superpower, and while he didn’t believe in the supernatural in that way, he believed she was just really good at reading people. No matter how good he was at hiding it, he didn’t want to be caught in a lie by Emma. He just… didn’t want her to think he was lying to her. “I didn’t have a great childhood mind you, I’ve been trying my whole life to forget.”

It was merely the truth in all honesty, as that was all what he wanted in the first place. His revenge, and really he wasn't going to t change what he was going to do, not while he had already gotten this far with it. Sure, he had failed the first time, but he had plenty of time, so long as the curse wasn't broken and brought back magic. As of the moment, he still had the advantage, and he still knew that 'Lacey French' was the Crocodile's weakness, as Milah was his, though the love was strength to. Love caused the both of them to exhibit rather possessive and protective behaviour, and all he needed was Mr. Gold, the bloody crocodile, to know how it felt to get his love ripped away from him. And if not that, then he was going to find a way to get his hands on the dagger which controlled him, one of the things he had come to know of when spending time researching all about the Dark One and the curse. "I told you - revenge," he reiterated clearly, his eyebrows shooting up his forehead. There was no other reason, and if she wanted specifications, he wasn't sure if she wanted such crystal clear details. (His deceased lover's heart got pulled out and crushed before death? Not so pleasant.)
"Rotting behind bars?" He merely scoffed at the idea, completely unbelieving. He knew enough about punishment, and some place to be trapped into wasn't going to stop him from finding an escape. He was a pirate after all, and he knew just about every possible trick, even if the technology nowadays was far more advanced than the olden ways back in the Enchanted Forest. "Of course I remember my past - why would I be here chained to this bed if I didn't, darling?" Hook smugly smiled since he remembered plenty from his past, and not even specifically from his childhood itself. He looked at the other man while he spoke, and his answer wasn't sufficient enough. "You don't just forget your past," he said, "or childhood. There's a school here, aye? Perhaps you remember where you got your education?" Thank god he did some research before committing to his plan. NOTES ; Herpaderp.

It seemed to Emma that this man was being vague with her. She understood the fact that he wanted revenge, but for what specific reason? “And you have made that very clear that you wanted revenge.” She stated in response. When he spoke again and stated that he did remember his past and asked why he would be chained to that bed if he didn’t, Emma realized that he did have a point. He wanted revenge for some reason, so a past event must have occurred with him and Mr. Gold in order for him to want revenge, but what could have possibly happened? Emma knew that he wasn’t going to get information out of him anytime soon, but she did know a few more things than she did when she first entered the hospital room. The blonde turned to face Graham when she spoke and nodded slightly. “I understand that, not wanting to remember your past if you didn’t have a great childhood.” She stated. There were certain things that Emma was able to recall off the top of her head, but it was mostly not great memories. She didn’t have a great childhood, bouncing from foster home to foster home. She was never truly happy, but those memories were a part of her and that would never change. She turned back to Hook when he began to speak again. “Sometimes people end up suppressing their memories, depending what happened.” She said in response to his words. What was this man trying to get at? And what did this have to do with him kidnapping Lacey French in order to get revenge on Mr. Gold? “What exactly does this have to do with anything?” She asked. But Emma also knew that it would be hard for someone to forget about their education. Graham Humbert, Killian Jones

Graham decided that it was time to step in when it came to the questioning. He crossed his arms and looked towards Emma for a moment. “He claims Gold killed his love. An eye for an eye.” But it was still against the law. However, if Gold was truly guilty of murder, then Graham would launch a full investigation… if he wasn’t such a coward and couldn’t seem to bring himself to go after Gold, as if something prevented him from doing so, from interrupting the oh so pleasant life of Mr. Gold. Him revealing everything he knew from his own personal questioning before Emma’s arrival, wouldn’t help with her ‘superpower’, because of course Graham was telling the truth, but the information could be inaccurate.
However, it bothered him he couldn’t remember his parents’ faces. He couldn’t remember having any best friends. It was odd to be bothered, to dwell on this fact, to not be able to get it out of his head. It wasn’t like he felt frustrated with it, it wasn’t like he really seemed to care in his mind of minds, and yet, he was bothered, dwelling upon the gray that was his past. It was like something more was missing from him. Something was missing more than just a lot of feeling that he should feel. As if his identity was ripped away from him. And these thoughts soon intruded upon his face, causing him to look quite pensive. He wanted to remember, even if it was bad, because his past was what made him Graham Humbert.
Unwanting to worry Emma, or prove the pirate’s point, Graham curled his lips up slightly into a half-grin to give the appearance that he wasn’t bothered any longer. He wouldn’t answer the question the pirate put to him, otherwise he would be lying and Emma might pick up on it. He didn’t remember his school, he didn’t know if he went to school, or if he changed schools or if he had friends from school. Instead, the deflected the question. “It doesn’t have anything to do with this… situation.” Graham had answered the question, trying very hard to not have to answer any more of these questions about his past.

Ah, so his cover had been blown. Honestly, he was expecting that, considering he had told the other man of his reasons for being here, for his kidnapping of Belle. Or Lacey. He knew no one was going to believe him, therefore he spared the details, omitted some of the truth. And what was the point if no one believed him? No one was going to sympathize him, to empathize with them about their loves dying. He highly doubted any of that happened to them before, especially to the extent of having their heart teared out of their chests and crushed to dust. The unfortunate part was that he wasn't ever going to see her again, and unless he got his revenge, his life was simply wasted since he spent a majority of his time in Neverland planning for ways to destroy the Dark One. Really, he wasn't going to give up on this now - this was only another obstacle to face.
He wanted to say it had to do with everything, though he wasn't, because this wasn't part of his original plan. "You'll figure it out in due time," he said, suggesting the thought. Sure, he was implying it, but she was still oblivious to the fact, and the deflection that came from her boss, or partner, was fairly obvious, and he didn't need to call him out any further. There was nothing else he was going to be able to do from here on out about the curse except perhaps hint towards it, but Hook didn't have that desire, not until his revenge was a success. Or if his life ended before or during his revenge. And, he also caught a glimpse of her, something beneath this demanding, stubborn woman, and he didn't have confirmation on it, but she was like an open book to him already, and if anything, he was sure they were going to be well acquainted soon enough once there was more trouble he had to cause.
